Ramadan is when?
Ramadan began not on the 1st of Ramadan, but on the 2nd day.
Kind of like saying, September began not on the 1st, but on the 2nd of September.
Reason being is that the official religious leaders in Morocco couldn't see the moon the other day. They have to see the moon to confirm the start day. Thus, some countries started on Thursday, some on Friday.
Interesting how important the moon factors into Islam. The symbol used is the crescent moon. The religious calendar is a lunar calendar, not solar.
Why the moon and not the sun? Just a question.
