The Road Less Traveled

There is the wide road used by most people of this world and there is the narrow way, the Road Less Traveled. This blog is about experiences, people and places on the narrow path. I lived and worked in North Africa for many years. That is my outer journey. But my inner journey is spiritual, global and universal. In 2012, I moved to the Golden Triangle region of SE Asia (Laos, Myanmar, Thailand). I have started a whole new adventure. Come join me on the Road Less Traveled. Without and within.

Diva becomes Religious

I browsed the newstands today. On several local Arabic newspapers, I saw the headlines, "Diva Singer Raja'e Belmlih submits to allah" along with her photo. Her face was still attractively made up, but her head covered with a scarf. Diva gets religion. Big news? Good news?

This is similar to what has happened in Egypt, with ageing singers getting religious near the end of their careers... Or feeling pressure from Islamic fundamentalists?

I glanced at a French newspaper. The same article was on top, but the headline was different: "The death of singer Raja'e Belmlih". A different perspective. She is no longer singing. Her career is over.

This might be akin to Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, or Beyonce suddenly quiting their singing careers and "getting religion."

Now that's interesting!
