Neighbors: Ahmed
Living below us in a garsonia (studio apartment) is a divorced woman, Fatima with a 14 year old son, named Ahmed*.
Ahmed is a budding juvenile delinquent.
He stole an iPod from a doctor's suitcase that was stored in his house, sold it in the suq (open market) for 3000 dirhams (US $375) and bought a small motorized bicycle. The doctor was from France and didn't notice the missing iPod until he arrived back in Europe. He called to retrieve it.
Fatima talked to Ahmed's friends, found out where it was sold, went there with them and bought back the iPod with borrowed money. She is trying to send the iPod back to the doc in France. As for dealing with Ahmed, she is afraid of disciplining him. She called his father to come, but he won't. She doesn't know what to do. She owes 3000 dirhams to friends.
Meanwhile, Ahmed still rides his motobike bought with stolen money.
