The Road Less Traveled

There is the wide road used by most people of this world and there is the narrow way, the Road Less Traveled. This blog is about experiences, people and places on the narrow path. I lived and worked in North Africa for many years. That is my outer journey. But my inner journey is spiritual, global and universal. In 2012, I moved to the Golden Triangle region of SE Asia (Laos, Myanmar, Thailand). I have started a whole new adventure. Come join me on the Road Less Traveled. Without and within.

Murder about the Town

We just heard this town news from our maid today: a teenage boy murdered his own mother by gagging and tieing her to a tree and stoning her to death. Maybe that's not so strange to hear nowadays, particularly in the USA.

However, the reason the son killed his mom was different - it was because, in his words, "My mother was not dressing properly (covering up her head and body) in hijaab." In other words, he felt religiously correct in his deed. Afterwards, he turned himself in to the police.

Upon further questioning by authorities, it was revealed that his mother dressed "immodestly" in the house and that was why the son was offended, ashamed, and religiously outraged enough to carry out this "honor killing."

Go figure this one out.
